WOW is delighted to invite two well known artists to participate in our International Charity Fun Fair. Venus Crew was founded in 2003 and consists of five graffiti artists from Hubei Institute of Fine Arts. You can find a lot of their graffiti at Tanhualin Street in Wuchang. They are highly respected in the graffiti field in China and have won many national awards. Venus Crew has been invited to many functions and performances including the Beijing 798 Art Zone. JER & FOX have specially prepared three works on canvas for our fair representing Life, Eternity and Passion – which combined compose the creation of Love. All money raised through the silent auction of these art works will go to the Hubei Children Affected by HIV/Aids Charity. Check out the video of the making of these painting by Venus Crew HERE. FYI – The 11th French Bowling Competition will be held on at Jianghan University Stadium, Gate 5, Hanyang on Sunday May 26th. This event is hosted by Novotel Wuhan and UFE. Entrance is 288rmb/player, 198/buffet only or 98 rmb for children between 1-1.5 metres tall. For reservations call 85551158 extn 8581/8815.

Call out for empty plastic bottle and envelopes! Bottles which can be used as plant pots (milk, juice,water containers), and envelopes old, new, used (all ok!) which can be used for the Lucky Dip Game. If you have any of these items to spare please bring them either to the AGM this Thursday or the Fish’n'Chips lunch this Saturday and give them to Panida Thanks!!

Distorsions urbaines is a dance show overlapping poetry, music, & temporary installation…”like open theatre in the heart of urban space”…. I’m not sure exactly what it will be, but it has made me curious enough that I will pop down to check it out at Wuhan Tiandi between this Thursday – Saturday! Dear WOW Member – The Wuhan Municipal Foreign Affairs Office requests the honor of your presence at their Foreigners Culture Communication Party being held at 18:00hrs on Saturday May 25th at Wuhan Citizen’s Home in Hankou. The address is 117 Jinqiao Ave, Hankou/市民之家 -金桥大道117号. Between 18:00-19:00 hrs they will host a tour of the Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, followed by some food & drinks and various performances until 21:00hrs. RSVPs are necessary. For those of you that don’t already know – the Wuhan Citizen House is now where all the entry/exit permits and Residence visas are handled, replacing their old premises on Shengli Lu (near Wuhan Tiandi).

FYI – As many of you might know already, a new VIP service is being offered in Tongji Hospital for foreigners who need to get medical help and do not know how to do that in Wuhan. This service has been created by one of our ladies (and one of our new WOW organisers) Silja Zhang. Silja is German, married to a Chinese, a doctor, and is currently working in Tongji Hospital Wuhan.
